Types of spiral welded pipes: Spiral welded pipes generally have higher strength than straight-seam welded pipes. They can produce larger-diameter pipes from narrower billets and can also manufacture pipes of different diameters using billets of the same width. However, compared with straight-seam pipes of the same length, spiral welded pipes have a weld seam that is 30% to 100% longer, and their production speed is lower. Consequently, smaller-diameter welded pipes are typically manufactured using the straight-seam process, while larger-diameter pipes predominantly employ the spiral-welded method.

1. For pressurized fluid conveyance, spiral‑seam submerged‑arc welded steel pipes conforming to SY 5036‑83 are primarily used for oil and natural gas pipelines. Corrosion‑resistant steel pipes: spiral‑seam high‑frequency welded steel pipes conforming to SY 5038, manufactured by high‑frequency lap welding, are also employed for pressurized fluid transport. These pipes exhibit strong pressure resistance, good ductility, and are easy to weld and form. 2. For general low‑pressure fluid conveyance, spiral‑seam submerged‑arc welded steel pipes conforming to SY 5037 are produced using either double‑sided automatic submerged‑arc welding or single‑side welding; they are suitable for transporting water, coal gas, air, steam, and other common low‑pressure fluids.
