Q235B is designated by the symbol “Q” followed by a number, a quality grade designation, and a deoxidation method symbol. The steel grade begins with “Q,” which stands for the yield strength of the steel; the subsequent number indicates the yield strength value in megapascals (MPa). For example, Q235 denotes a carbon structural steel with a yield strength (σs) of 235 MPa.
Q345 is a grade of steel. It is a low-alloy steel, where “Q” stands for yield strength; Q345 indicates that this steel has a yield strength of 345 MPa. The yield strength of Q345 decreases as the material thickness increases. Moreover, domestically produced grades may fall below 345 MPa, so in mechanical design, the allowable strength must be kept below this value; otherwise, problems may arise.
