If the number of worn threads does not exceed 3.5, the connection may continue to be used; otherwise, re‑threading is required. The most effective method for identifying thread types on Guangxi spiral pipes at the field is to use a coupling gauge—a vernier caliper marked with the external root diameter of the male thread and the internal enlarged‑taper hole diameter of the female thread—offering simplicity, clarity, and precision. Alternatively, a long‑shank vernier caliper combined with a steel ruler can be used to measure the external root diameter, length, and internal enlarged‑taper hole diameter, allowing direct comparison with the relevant thread standards. When the threads are held vertically, the direction of the helix—as viewed from the front—indicates the thread sense: a rightward rise denotes a right‑hand thread, while a leftward rise indicates a left‑hand thread.
