Its primary purpose is to identify surface defects and dimensional deviations in the welds, typically carried out by naked eye observation, aided by standard templates, gauges, and magnifying glasses. If defects are found on the surface of a spiral steel pipe weld, there is a corresponding likelihood that internal defects may also be present.

2. Physical Testing Methods: Physical testing methods rely on specific physical phenomena to perform measurements or inspections. For examining internal defects in materials or workpieces, nondestructive testing (NDT) is typically employed. 3. Strength Testing of Pressure Vessels: In addition to leak‑tightness testing, pressure vessels must also undergo strength tests, typically hydraulic and pneumatic tests. Both methods assess the weld integrity of vessels and pipelines operating under pressure. Pneumatic testing is more sensitive and faster than hydraulic testing, and it eliminates the need for post‑test drainage, making it particularly suitable for products where draining is difficult. However, pneumatic testing carries greater risks than hydraulic testing; therefore, appropriate safety measures must be strictly observed during the test to prevent accidents.
