Steel plate spiral pipes are typically welded with either straight or helical seams, and the forming process for the coil is essentially the same: shearing (or cutting) — beveling — flipping the steel plate over — pressing rounded arcs at both ends — coiling into a large-diameter roll (including spot welding) — butt-jointing pipe sections (including spot welding) — and welding the circumferential seam (using automatic welding).

The forming process for the coil is essentially the same and proceeds as follows: shearing (or cutting) — beveling — flipping the steel plate over — pressing rounded arcs at both ends — producing large‑diameter coils (including spot welding) — butt‑joining pipe sections (including spot welding) — and welding the annular seam (using automatic welding).
Analysis indicates that the pits formed during the rolling process: during the first three passes, oxide scale on the steel sheet surface detached and was pressed into the sheet. Furthermore, equipment analysis of the three-roll bending machine—comprising one upper roll and two lower rolls—revealed distinct pits on the upper roll, suggesting that the roll surface experienced slight deformation due to the impact of foreign material.
Cutting Requirements for Steel Plate Coiled Pipes
(1) When using a saw blade for cutting or manually employing hydraulic pressure to cut pipes on the side, the steel coil should be placed on an oil pan beneath the equipment or vise to prevent oil from contaminating the floor.
(2) When steel coil slabs are cut using abrasive wheels, plasma cutting, or oxy‑fuel cutting, the resulting slag, oxides, iron filings, scrap sawings, and abrasive wheel fragments must be collected and disposed of in a unified manner. After being gathered by the collection and transportation department, they shall be handled by a qualified entity or a designated sanitation authority to prevent contamination of soil and groundwater. For transporting waste that is easily overlooked, enclosed vehicles must be used, and vehicle wheels must be thoroughly cleaned before departure to avoid leaving behind debris that could contaminate road surfaces.
(3) When cutting steel‑plate coil pipes with diameters of 500 mm or greater, strictly control the dosage and particle size of TN. Avoid excessive TN dosage and particle size, which could damage the pipeline, necessitate reprocessing, and result in resource waste and environmental pollution.
